Batboys/Batgirls for the MCYSA International Championships

We are looking for young baseball fans interested in getting some World Series experience. The MCYSA/USSSA 15U International Championships will be held in Crystal Lake from July 24 - August 1. We are looking for bat boys or girls to assist the visiting teams in their dugouts during the games. The experience and memories will last a lifetime.

Bat Boys/Girls will be expected to:
1. Participate in at least 7 games which will be held at local field, Lippold Park and surrounding H.S. fields.

2. Wear a helmet / pick up bats / keep dugout clean / let them know the best places to eat after the game!

3. Have fun and represent McHenry County with energy and enthusiasm.

Please send your name, age shirt size and parents name and phone # to MCYSABB@comcast.net.

Registration will be on July 23rd from 9-12 at the CL Holiday Inn. Teams will be assigned at that point and shirts and schedules will be handed out.

You will be notified by email prior to that point to confirm your participation.

FAQ's

Can 2 friends or brothers share a team due to time conflicts?
Yes - that is ok to do and can make it more fun.

Can my son/daughter be paired with an International team?
If the team is part of the home stay program then the families who house the boys assume that role. There will be some teams that do not use the program and will need a bat boy. Spanish speaking is a plus as Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic will be here again this year.

What if he/she has to miss a game?
It is ok to miss one but once your son / daughter starts hanging with the players they won't want to miss an inning. Just let the coach know so he is not expecting them that game.

When are the games?
The games go from 9am to 8pm and are played Sat, Sun, Mon (tue is an off day) then resume Wed with a double elimination format. Most teams play 2 Saturday, 2 Sunday and 1 Monday so the bulk of the games are that first weekend.

What should I expect?
You will become an instant fan and local liaison of the team your child is paired with. These boys will be such positive role models for your son, especially if they are aspiring baseball players. Many of the families still stay in contact with the players and teams. I hear from parents and former batboys all the time that receive emails and updates. One recently received a package from the University of Texas where a former player is now on the team and he sent his old batboy a shirt and hat. The memories truly last a lifetime.
